I looked at a couple open houses. We are NOT in the market. Financially, we are not ready, nor is our house ready to sell. Why do I do that? I saw a house last week I really liked. It was 4 bdrm, 2.5 bath colonial in a family friendly neighborhood. Right near the school!!!! I WANT that style house. I have a split level now, and long for a colonial. I didn't like the basement - smelled damp, or that it was on a corner lot - no privacy. But there would be kid in the neighborhood for my kids to play with, and there were sidewalks. Our house has neither.

Today, I looked at a Cape Cod in the same neighborhood, but it did not knock my socks off, BUT, I saw another house I liked. It was in another neighborhood, but it also has kids and sidewalks. It was similar to the one from last week, but NOT on a corner. This one was also 4 bdrm, 2.5 baths. The basement was waterproofed and did not smell. It also had a sunroom in the back - nice! The couple is retired and moving to Florida. It did need some cosmetic updating but there was nothing I couldn't live with. But, as I said, we are nowhere near ready to move, and it would take a LOT of convincing to get DH on board.

You mean you actually went to their open houses??!! I tend to set myself off with just looking online. I think I'd go over the edge if I found what I wanted and wasn't ready. Dh and I differ on this though. Sometimes I'm in the mood to notice homes as we drive though neighborhoods and think of how I'd like to incorporate this or that feature into our home. Or what kind of house I'd like to move in to --- someday. Just wishful thinking/day dreaming. But it has the opposite effect on dh. He ends up very discouraged feeling like we'll never get there.
I guess I'm saying you're not the only one to have such strong emotional reactions to homes!
(((Hugs))) We'll all get there in time! <_<
