One of my mom's dear friends passed away suddenly and I am going to the funeral on Monday since it isn't too far for me to drive. Her name was Helen and she and her husband had 5 kids. They lived on our street when we lived in Ohio many years ago...they moved to Colorado and my parents moved to Texas. Then, they moved to Pennsylvania and even met my 2 boys when Christian was born. She was the nicest lady and always had a smile on her face.

I'm sorry, Winnie. I'm sure the family will appreciate that you are taking the time to go to the funeral. Travel safely.

Thanks everyone...
I made it there and back safely yesterday by myself. It was hard but I'm glad I went since my parents and sister could not attend. I found out that she had cancer and had complications with the radiation treatments which resulted in cardiac arrest. It didn't sound like she suffered and the family is relieved that she is no longer in any pain from the cancer treatments. And her husband was so nice even in his time of grief, he came over to check on me to make sure that I was not eating alone at the reception afterwards. At the time, I had found a couple of friends of the family to talk to so I wasn't alone.
