Went to the library today and picked up a few books. I've just been reading quick romances that I buy at the library book sale but wanted something different today. I picked up Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich and I'm almost through reading it. It's a quick read but very good. Next I got Primrose Past the 1848 Journal of a young Lady Primrose. It was in the new arrivals but didn't have a jacket or a forward. I love to read old diaries and this one looked interesting. Lastly, I got Laura Bush's biography (also in the new arrivals). She grew up in west Texas like I did so I thought it might be an interesting read.

I lurk here a lot but haven't posted much. Most of the books I've read lately are pretty quick reads...something to keep my mind busy. I read a lot more heavier books in the winter. Anyways, just thought I would share what I picked up today.

Finishing up Monkeewrench by P.J. Tracy, only have about 20 pages left or so. Live Bait is the next up by the same authors. Haven't had much time to read this week so it's been slow going. I did take my book out to the hammock last night, read about 15 minutes and fell asleep! :hugs:

I just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. I am not sure what I'll read next. I have "Hitched" by Carol Higgins Clark and will probably start that. I need something fun and light now. This was a great book but I found myself in tears about half way through the book and they just kept coming until I finished it last night.

Sounds like you just finished a good book! I may have to pick it up in the near future!

I've heard good and bad -- I have it from our library but I haven't cracked it open yet. I need something "lighter" right now. I fear I may end up returning it and getting it another time. We'll see.

I think it was good. Someone else in our book club said she didn't cry at all but I'm an ole' softy. Plus, I think I'm PMSing so that doesn't help. :hugs: I am now officially reading "Hitched" by Carol Higgins Clark. This will be a fast read. I already read 50 pages earlier today. Yes, just what I needed to read right now! :P

I opened up and started it without having a clue of what it was about. I am already well into it and it's definately a page turner. I like it so far. I have to finish it quickly because that Harry Potter book is coming out in a few days!

I just finished March by Geraldine Brooks. It's the Civil War experience of Mr. March, the absent father in Little Women.

Everyone in my book club liked it and it generated lots of discussion.

Just finished "Alone" by Lisa Gardner. I'm starting #13 in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Just some light fluffy summer stuff.
