How often should I be aiming to replace my sneakers? I power walk 30+ miles a week. Do I wait to see significant wear, or is there some sort of timetable? When I slip on my old sneakers when I m at the cottage (and didn't want to wreck my "good" sneakers) my knees definitely notice the difference (owie), so I was wondering what the guidelines were.
TIA

Runner's World recommends replacing walking shoes about every 600 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first.

The key is to also listen to your body as an indicator. If your feet or knees start to feel sore or just not right, it's probably time to replace your shoes. Every shoe is made differently and even if the shoes do not look worn, they could have lost their cushioning power.

Thanks! That's just what I needed. I think I should probably start looking for a new pair to have on hand! Thanks for the kudos. I have been enjoying it so much that it doesn't even seem like work. LOL

BTW, that was a great, informative article about walking. And... (beaming)...I get qualified for being in "great aerobic shape" because at age 37.5 I can walk a 13.5 minute mile> :-)
