My current boss is leaving the organization to work for an organization in Europe with the same company so I can either stick it out and work for his current boss or move out of the organization to work for someone else. Work has been crazy and stressful (it has been more so since the beginning of the year) and I never feel like I can do my job as well as I should. I had my mid-year review and things went well but I have a couple of documents due for tomorrow. I had trouble sleeping last night from the stress and really miss being able to go to bed at a decent time so I can get up earlier to exercise. Sometimes I wish I could be one of those people who don't care about their job. It seems like those who don't do that good of a job still have jobs and those who do great at their job don't have a job. I even got a phone call on my personal cell phone from my boss' manager while I was shopping with the kids at Staples a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. I was in the public restroom and totally wasn't expecting any calls from work and ended up returning home earlier than I planned to do work. I learned that I should always check caller id even if it's a weekend...lol!

On a happier note, the boys are enjoying summer day camp and we've been reading The Chronicles of Narnia at bedtime together. I never read them as a child so it's been fun for me to read it outloud to them to ask them questions and see their excitement of what will happen next.

That's it in my world, what is going on with everyone else's world?

Wow, Winnie! That all sounds so stressful! ((HUGS)) GL with all of your work decisions!
I read The Chronicles of Narnia to the girls in the car before I dropped them off at school...like 15 minutes a day. We LOVED it and even got to see a stage play of Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at a local community college. The Horse and His Boy was our least favorite of the series we decided. Enjoy!
Some extra ((HUGS)) for you!
Kristina

I hope things go well for you and you decide what's best for you and your family. I hope the stress levels go down. Just do the best ya can and hope for the best .

I read to DD almost every night. She's almost three, so her favorite right now is Goodnight Moon, but she tore it up, so it went in the trash and we decided we weren't buying yet another one for her to destroy. She's gotta deal with the ones she has (and as she tears them up, they go in the trash can). She's doing slightly better about tearing her books. So far, lately, we've been reading her Dr. Seuss (Green Eggs and Ham, and [/i]Put Me in the Zoo[/i]) and Dad, Aren't You Glad. My brother read her one of the Harry Potter books when she was down at my parents for a week this summer. :yahoo: I sincerely doubt she understood much of it.

Thank you for your post. Goodnight Moon was always a favorite with my boys when they were younger and sometimes even now, we read it from time to time. You can't go wrong with classic Dr. Seuss books.

I'm reading the Magic Tree House series to Nick and Alex. Nick is more interested. We're on #10. I like that the adventures take you to different places/times and give a little history/information. Plus, it's a fun mystery series which he seems to enjoy and is one of my favorite genres.

And, yes, check Caller ID! A good lesson that we all have to learn. :bump:

Re: exercise time...I understand. The summer throws me off but I am trying. I get it in about 3-4 x during the work week. I put my mini stepper by my favorite chair in the living room and pull it out when I am watching the food channel, etc. Might as well be doing something while I'm watching!

Sounds like you're busy as always!! A phone call in the bathroom!! :bump: Yep, always check the Caller ID!!

Glad that the boys are doing well. Any new pics?? I bet they've really grown! My kids love the Chronicles of Narnia too, I remember reading them when I was a kid. Hannah has read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe a couple times now. They love the movie too! Isn't it great when they get so excited about reading/ being read to??

Hugs,
Jess

Thanks Peggy...Josh loves the Magic Tree House series. It's his favorite series so far and he always giggles while he reads them. Good idea moving your mini stepper by the tv! My DH wants to move the Nordic Track to the bedroom but I told him that unless he moves the tv into our room, I doubt he would use it.

Thanks for your post Jess...I definitely learned to check caller id always now no matter what day it is...lol! One of these days I'll get pics posted. DH took the old video card out of the camera and put a new one in so I'm not sure where he put it or I'd do it quickly now. I told the boys once we finish reading the first two chronicles, we could watch the movie together. They can't wait!

Heh. I know all about re-organization, as you know.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks Pam...after hearing from other people what the other manager was like and even hearing from my current boss' manager that the other manager wasn't great (which isn't very professional in my opinion), I decided to stick it out with the current organization and work for my current boss' manager. I am supposed to continue my current role, maybe hand off a few items off my list, and take on more sales education work. My new boss asked me if I had a back up person and I think he was surprised that I had none. I have mixed emotions about the whole thing but for now, I'll hang in there and view it as a good opportunity to learn more. We have an online directory for work and up until now, I have avoided posting my pic but it looks like I have to now b/c my new boss is being weird about things like that. He wants us to post our pics and home address. I guess I have to dress up and put on at least a suit jacket this weekend and have DH take a pic of me for the directory so people will take me seriously since most of the folks I work with are older than I am. I look too casual in other pics. Bye bye to my anonymity...lol! I kinda liked it that way when people didn't know what I look like at work, isn't that funny?

Ugh........that sounds pretty stressful. I've been working on getting a 'plan b' in place for myself as well. My current manager is awesome and I'll be happy as long as I work for her. But there have been a lot of changes lately, upper management retirements, etc. Unfortunately, my company is terrible about just telling people they are changing jobs and you can take it or leave it. If that happens to me, I want to be able to walk away without it being too hard on my family.

Good luck with your decision. Is nursing school an option now that your DH is done with school? Hope you can figure something out. Having a high stress job takes a toll and it's hard to justify the sacrifices your family has to make. Keep us posted.

Glad the kids are enjoying camp. Ian and I just finished the first Narnia book, DH is reading the second Harry Potter to him. We started From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler a couple weeks ago and I'm enjoying that again. I read it when I was pretty young and had forgotten most of it. We'll probably go through the second Narnia book next. So many good books on my list to read to the kids it's hard to pick the next one!
