I am not into Christian reading, which I thought that this is what the book was about, but so far I like it.

Yes I felt the writing of The Memory Keepers Daughter was also very slow and predictable

Is Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella? I have read her books before and liked them. The Pilots Wife was good, but my IRL book club has put a ban on reading any more Anita Shreve books-----so far The Pilots Wife is the only one I have liked at all.
BTW--the movie was on last night--did you watch it?

I finished "Three To Get Deadly" last night. Now I'm onto "Four to Score" and am still reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" too. Also, DH wants me to read a book about the Blue Nile...I'm going to skim that a bit too. I forget the name of that one.

A ban? Why would a book club ban a book?

Well lets just say we put a moratorium and reading any more Anita Shreve or Jodi Picoult books. None of us have liked the Shreve books that have been picked....and as for Jodi Picoult we just got sick of it after awhile. I guess ban was not a good word to use. There are only 4 of us in the book club and none of us seem to like Anita Shreves writing even though we keep giving her a try we just decided enough punishment is enough!

Yup, same author. I'm getting sick of them. They're good for mindless light reading, but honestly the main character is just starting to get on my nerves--I know they have to put her in these ridiculous situations to keep the plot moving (or more to the point, to have a plot at all) but it's all so contrived and silly that it's no longer really entertaining, and if I knew this girl IRL I'd have long since dumped her!
I really liked "Can You Keep a Secret" by the same author--same fun, light reading but the situation was a bit more normal and the main character more likeable.

Yep, it's Kinsella. Love her books for some good fluff, LOL. I do have to admit though when I read the first one, I had to put it down. I kept cringing and thinking, "No, don't buy it, don't use your credit card." Then I'd pick it back up and cringe some more. I'm such a miser, she made me nervous.
As for Shreve, I've only read a couple of her books, loved Light on Snow. I've heard both good and bad on this one so decided to try it for myself. Oh and I didn't see the movie, my DH is home in the evenings now so he mostly has control over the tv and I read. Didn't even realize there is a movie.

I put my own ban with Jodi Picoult. I like her and all, but I found myself getting depressed reading her books! I still have The Pact on my reading list, but it's not high up there. And I think her big "twist" endings are getting a bit ridiculous.

Finished Fool Me Once and am now reading Letter from Home by Carolyn Hart. Each chapter starts with part of a letter written in in current times then the chapter goes back to a murder that happened in 1944. Pretty interesting so far.
