We are starting to talk about a move to Texas. We have wanted warmer weather for many years now. We didn't make the move last summer because it seemed that Kevin wasn't able to get any work there. We have a few connections at this time and we will see what doors open for him. He is a self-employed Engineer with the automotive field and it is just not happening here in MI. There are so many people getting laid off or losing their jobs. Kevin has been getting small jobs, but we want big jobs so we get decent pay.

I will keep you posed on what we decide to do. The boys would love to move to warmer weather...........so if things happen then we will be really talking about making another move. No more winters????? Well, we will see!

Well after looking at that house Jill scored, I can't blame you! Hell, I may even join you! Cheaper cost of living, no winters...what's not to love?

Butting in here.... I just read somewhere that you really get the best deal for the money home/land-wise in Texas. As much as I complain about winter, I think I might actually miss it, though!

Some things to consider when moving to Texas, NO STATE INCOME TAXES!! YEA!!! don't get to excited though, they get you on property taxes. Our home in Texas will cost about $250,000, and we will pay over $9000 in property taxes!! Here in CO, we live in a $415,000 dollar home and we paid about $2500 last year.

One great thing about Texas, and the Austin area specifically, is that they are growing exponentially right now. If you wanted to get in on a good real estate market, now is definitely the time. Another pro (which may apply to other areas in TX, but I am only familiar with Austin) is that the job market is booming! If your husband needs help finding a job, let me know, my DH is in recruiting and might be able to point him in the right direction.

Good luck with your decision, it's a tough one!
