Thanks for the texas information. I didn't know about the "state taxes," but wow what you will pay in property taxes. OUCH!!

We have a house and property worth about $400,000 at the moment and we are not sure what our taxes will be. The people we bought from only paid about $300.00 a year for the past ten years. Our mortgage gal called the township here and was told there wasn't even a house on the property. We recently received a form from the township and it stated that the "value" was about $157,000 and it went up from like $23,000. That is quite an increase so we will get nailed now that we bought it. We don't know for how much. We will see come the summer.

My husband owns his own Engineering company and has for the past five and a half years. He doesn't have his degree, but he has 20+ years in the field. He has been involved in paint finishing booths, duct work, spray booths and the such for the automotive industry. He has also converted a huge warehouse into condo units on the water in Saginew, MI. It was a "Boathouse" project and he did a great job with it, the customer was very happy. He would love to get out of automotive engineering and move into another direction. Let me know if your husband has any ideas, we are thinking of the San Antonio area if at all possible. Thanks and I will check in often to see what doors may open for him. :D
