for now I am concentrating on percentage of body fat, and have managed to get that down almost 2%, thepounds so far are not coming off, but I am happy its changing to muscle.
I am seeing a personal trainer 2 twice a week, and trying to go to the gym another 2 times, or do the 4 mile express walk with Leslie Sansone.
I am going Weight Watchers tomorrow hopefully, if I can manage to get out of work on time.
My goals is to be a healthier mom for my kids, to be able to run with them, bike with them and not get winded or tired.
I also want to set a positive example for them, my seven year old is by no means fat but doctor is worried that she is now at the top end of a good weight, she has gained a lot this year so I am making sure we all eat healthier and eliminating the junk food from out daily lives.

I'm a big believer in the South Beach Diet b/c it's all about eating whole grains, lean meats, low fat dairy & lots of fruits & veggies. It's not a fad diet at all & I've learned a ton about nutrition from the book & a SBD support board.
Right now my goal is to exercise 4-5 days a week & to cut out sugar. I'm trying to make healthy choices, but I'm not going to focus on decreasing calories b/c I'm BFing. My goal is to lose about 4 lbs a month & so far it's going well! I've already lost 2 lbs in a week. I try to keep track of my meals on thedailyplate.com, but not every day. I do journal what I eat daily in a notebook though.
As for exercise, right now I'm just doing Winsor Pilates (the B&T and 20 min DVDs) & upper body weights. I'll try to work in some cardio eventually.
Like Brenda, diabetes runs in my family plus I've had gestational diabetes twice now which dramatically increases your chances of getting Type 2 diabetes later down the road. So that's a huge motivator for me! Plus, I want to be a good example for my kids. GL to everyone!

My first goals are:
To fit exercise in 4 days/week. I'm still struggling with that whole working mom thing. Working full time, volunteering, and then coming home where I do pretty much everything myself (I'm not complaining about dh; I used to be such a control freak that I created that monster!LOL)...anyway, I'm still trying to balance it all.
I also need to eat healthier. I've been tracking on thedailyplate.com off and on, and I'm trying to be more consistant with it. It really helps me see how those little things here and there really have added up! I'm hoping to also break this sugar addiction. Ugh!
Oh, and I need to drink more water! I'm a diet coke addict as well.
So, making those 3 things habits should bring about some wanted weight loss, toning and feeling better!

Since having RIley I have lost weight though, really those first few months because I wasn't eating much. I have not been eating dairy since June of last year. But when I stopped watching it so carefully I noticed the weight has come back a little. Since we have found out he does truly have a milk allergy I am being more careful again. I am having a hard time finding the time and energy to exercise though because Riley still doesn't sleep well and keeps me up all night even when he is in bed with me.
My goal is to lose 20 to 25 lbs then reevaluate things.

I've cut out junk and am trying to stick to healthy foods and cut way back on portion size. Also cutting out nightly snacking. I should be working out more than I am, but with the kids home, it's hard. Hoping that after the holiday weekend, I can get in some kind of workout routine. Ty hates the babysitting room at the Y, which makes things tough. Anyway, it seems I'm getting motivated at just the right time to join in with you all, so here goes nothing!

Yay! Good for you! Is there anything we can do that would help keep you motivated? Daily food & exercise threads? Ways we all intend to stay on track?
Have a great weekend!

I've been off and on with exercise lately, but when I'm *on* I do the elliptical trainer and walk and lift weights. I recently started taking a belly dancing class and despite my initial hesitation because of my size I really enjoy it am having a blast doing it! And I'm actually not the worst in the class, LOL!
So, as it stands I have about 140 lbs I'd like to lose. My goals right now are to get better control of my eating habits (I'm a huge sugar addict) and become consistent in my exercise.

Lisa - I can totally relate to the stressful year and the depression. In 2006, my house flooded in late July, then on Sept. 25, 2006, my dear SIL committed suicide. I have not been the same since. I have gained 30lbs on top of the 50 lbs I've gained since my wedding day. I've been on depression meds, but have 0 self control!
I am Cheryl. I need to loose a lot of weight. I am female, fat, and over 40 which puts me at risk for diabetes, heart disease, and gallbladder. My goal is to loose 8 lbs for July. I am trying to make better food choices, and move my body more.

I'm Shelby, mom to 3 girls. I'm about 5'1" and 169 pounds (I've lost 5 pounds since my "new beginning" about 2 1/2 weeks ago). I've been taking baby steps.
My recent bout of inspiration came from reading Joy Bauer's 90/10 plan. I've been doing a lot of comfort eating, boredom eating, let's-celebrate-because-the-kids-are-asleep eating, and generally being a slave to my taste buds. I have a big-time sweet tooth. This plan (similar to Weight Watchers, I think) includes a certain amount of "fun food" every day, so I've been focusing on portion sizes, especially for desserts, as well as using lower-calorie options. I have also begun walking for exercise.

I'm constantly battling about 4-5 lbs and it drives me nuts. Even though I've been working out with dvds now for almost 3 yrs (off & on with having babies) I still feel like a beginner sometimes. So I admit I've been lurking on this board.
Keep up the great work ladies

count me in this same group too!! lol
I have success, it's always SO SLOW that when something happens to break my routine, I can't find my way back.
I want to get to that place where I just need to maintain . . . medium amount of exercise, mostly good eating habits, a few misses of either here or there won't derail my train. I want to get where I enjoy, truly, exercising. I enjoy long walks, but they don't change my body. I need to do weights too, and that's sometimes fun and sometimes not. sigh
so overall I guess I could lose in the 30 lb range and be happy. I'd like to lose 2 sizes in jeans too.
