and discovered that the two new ones were *really* not acceptable for us.
The old one was one we drove past in October, and it's not terrible. I want to see the inside...I think it's not going to be big enough, but we'll see.

Sigh. This is such a project. Anyone feel like they're NEVER going to find a house they love that's in their price range?

Oh yeah, I have felt that way many many times. I especially loved it when my realtor would try to convince us to just raise our budget just a little. And of course, a little meant like $20,000!

There is this house for sale right near my house, a stone's throw away from the bus stop, that is just perfect. Four bedrooms. A full, walk out basement with a separate kitchen. A garage. Double the square footage. Built in book shelves. Two fireplaces. Clearanced asking price. So what's the problem? On a busy street. No backyard. I wish I didn't have my standards!! It's a great house, but not the perfect house. I'll continue to keep my eyes open.

Your house will come up! I have faith!

It is so tough to find the house that has everything, or even the "big" things we can't do without. I am a believer in knowing the minute you look at a house that is is "THE" house . I did not have that feeling when we bought this house, I hated this house & I still do! lol Even after huge renovations. It's just not home for us.
Hopefully you'll find your new home soon. Don't give up, it's out there!

that is soooooo true--as soon as we walked into the house we now live in, we both knew. Mauve countertops and linoleum aside  , the layout and the way the house flows is wonderful...if it were only about 1000-1500 sq feet larger, I could live in it for years!! But it's only 1700 heated sq ft and 3 bedrooms so we'll definitely need something bigger in a few years....after I finish school! Dare to dream......LOL

Only 1700 square feet huh? LOL! My house is about 1100 square feet, and that's with three kids and a cat! I always say that we outgrew this house before we even moved in, lol!

Congrats on your new house! Let's see some pictures now!

I so know how you feel! We aren't in the active buying stage yet, I just look through the papers and mls site to get an idea. But the houses around here are either too old, too small or have small yards. That was why we want to build. But then the building lots are too small too!
And there is a Toyota plant coming to the nearby town so prices have increased!
I know if I see a house I love then Iwill just feel it. Ijust worry I won't feel it around here!

Good luck on your house search!

LOL at the "too old". We eliminate houses becuase they are "too new". Our current house was built somewhere between 1880 and 1910 and we're looking for a house of a similar age. We just like the "feel" of an older house, although every once in awhile it'd be nice to have walls that are square and doors that actually FIT in the door jambs. LOL
We would never be able to afford to build. Or actually, what we can afford to build would never suit us. That's why we are looking for an older home in need of a little TLC (our dollar does farther...although it looks lousy for a few years, LOL)
