INTRO...

I'm 36, mom to 2 boys ages 3 & 6. I'm in graduate school for Speech-Language Pathology and should be graduating in August (FINALLY!). This semester I'm doing my child internship with the public schools & absolutely having a blast!

Background on me...I was an active kid. Ran cross country, indoor track & outdoor track in HS. Stayed active in college via Army ROTC. Met my DH in ROTC & married right after college in 1992. Remained fairly active at the beginning of our marraige, but the pounds eventually crept on and by the time friends of ours were married in 1996 I was 30 pounds heavier & not recognizing myself in the wedding pics. I did Jenny Craig & dropped down to 150 pounds wearing size 6/8, then found out I was pg with Jared. I gained 50 pounds with him thanks to my DQ blizzard cravings! :angry2: Lost most of the weight by the time Jared was 4 months old, but gained it back when I struggled with PPD that hit after DH's deployment while Jared was a baby & SILs suicide while DH was gone. It's been a struggle with weight ever since.

Fast forward...In 2004 I discovered the power of hypnosis & got my eating somewhat under control. I still need to listen to my CDs to keep it in check. I also rediscovered running & thanks to this board decided to give pilates a try. I'd been hearing about it & wondering if it would be a good exercise for me...and it was! I went from a size 16 in Jan 2004 to a size 8 now. I don't believe in the scale (I just threw mine out this weekend!). My weight is still in the upper 160s to low 170s, and I've discovered that I just feel like crap if I pay too much attention to that number. I prefer to fixate on the number on the tag of my jeans! LOL!!

I'm stuggling to get back to exercise after taking time off to study for comps. The exam was 2 weeks ago & I still don't have a consistent routine. I'm hoping being in the spotlight will help.

I'm a day late on this because yesterday was an "off" day because of the time change (it always messes me up!). I'll post more details this afternoon after work! Have a great day!!!

Hi Amy,

Wow, it sounds like you had a really tough time a few years ago. Congrats for surviving through all that and doing so well now. What hypnosis tapes do you use? I used hypnosis during unmedicated childbirth with each of my kids and found it worked well for me. I've been thinking about getting some new hypnosis CDs for general stress reduction and wellness. The last disk I bought (Pregnancy and Childbirth) was from Dr. Steven Gurgevich http://www.tranceformation.com/.

Peace,
Karen

MONDAY & TUESDAY

Monday... Had Monday off from work because it was a teacher work day & my superviser had to go to training. So, my day was thrown off entirely & the time change did not help any...LOL! Went into school to meet with my advisor regarding my thesis & to get paperwork for registration in summer. Turned in my thesis application to the university to get permission to do my study (so I can take data between semesters). Came home, picked up Jared & a friend from school & brought them home for a playdate. I really really really wanted to take a nap, but with the boys running around I couldn't! Actually fell asleep on the couch around 7pm, I think. I remember watching Jared & DH playing a game, then DH was waking me up to put me to bed (so my neck & back wouldn't be sore...what a guy! :blush2: ). Here are my meals...

Breakfast:
Shredded Wheat & Bran cereal w/ soy milk
Small glass of OJ to take my vitamins, etc.

Lunch:
Natural PB & Honey sandwich on mulitgrain bread

Dinner:
Roast Beef w/ provolone sandwich on whole wheat sub roll
1 serving of Wheat Thin multigrain crackers

No exercise...I was a slug!

Tuesday...Today was a bit better. Left the house right after posting my intro to head to the elementary school I'm doing my internship at. Started seeing groups of kids at 8am & didn't really stop until 1:45pm with a BREIF break around noon to eat something quick. Came home & did some schoolwork (thesis & a write up for class that's due next Weds.). Once the kids came home, they went out to play (at MILs house) & DH & I went to pick up my van from being inspected. That was a $170 inspection thanks to my rear brake cylinders leaking! Got the kids to bed & PMBO with DH. Meals for today...

Breakfast:
Shredded Wheat & Bran cereal w/ soy milk
Glass of water to take vitamins, etc (out of OJ!)

Lunch:
1 serving of Wheat Thin multigrain crackers w/ 2 string cheeses
Water

Dinner:
Went out & got dinner from a place called Moe's...it's a quick burrito bar type place...
1 Chicken Quesedilla (1 tortilla with cheese, pinto beans & chicken)
Handful of chips with salsa
Water

Exercise:
WP Beginner Circle workout (DH wanted to try it...first time he's used the circle I bought him for Christmas!)

WEDNESDAY...

Today is my busiest & longest day of the week. I'm out the door by 7am & don't get home again until almost 8pm. Had an IEP meeting at work this morning at 7:30am, then either provided therapy or conducted diagnostics from 8am until 2pm. My lunch today was broken into 2 snacks. Then after work, I headed into school to work on a paper before class tonight. Sat in class from 4:20 until 7 (no break! ). I have no idea how the teacher does it because she's pg & due in May!!!

Anyway, stopped at the Dollar Store to pick up plastic eggs & cheap candy to fill them for the boys' Easter parties at school tomorrow & Friday (I was sooo hungry I really really really wanted some candy for me to!...But I resisted...yea me!). Ate a quick dinner before reading to Ian & getting him down for bed. Hung a load of laundry & started a new load (will put it in the dryer after posting this) & PMBO with DH. Now I'm posting, then going to bed shortly!

Here's what I ate today...

Breakfast:
Shredded Wheat & Bran cereal w/ soy milk
Water to take vitamins, etc (still no OJ!)

Lunch, part 1:
SBD Peanut Butter cereal bar
Some water

Lunch, part 2:
Wheat Thin multigrain crackers w/ 2 string cheeses
More water

Dinner:
SBD frozen dinner - Garlic Sesame Beef
Water

Exercise:
WP Abs Power Sculpting w/ Resistance

Hi Amy!

Wowza...what a long day you had! You're doing great with your eating and exercising! WTG on resisting the candy when you were hungry!! Sounds like you're having a great week.

Hope you're getting the much deserved rest you need tonight.

THURSDAY...

Today was a bit less hectic than yesterday...LOL! Had a 7:30am IEP meeting at work, then saw kids from 8am until 2pm again. Today, though, I had a break at 10:30! :good: I had a chance to pick up some hearing time (have to accumulate a certain number of hours in different areas to graduate) during my lunch break, so it ended up being a 2 part lunch again. Oh well, I'll do about anything to get hearing time...they are so hard to get & I still need a bunch more!

Anyway, came home & DH literally pushed me out the door to go run. I have to say that my easy 12 minute/mile pace hurt most of the time I was running. It wasn't really a "Stop!" kind of hurt, but more of a :wt-hell: kind of hurt...LOL! I've experienced aches & pains in my lower body all through my running "career", but I have never, EVER felt achy in my arms...not shoulders, but ARMS! HUH?? Not sure what that was about?? I feel ok now...pilates helped stretch me out. I am a bit worried about how I'll feel in the morning! LOL! :swoon:

I really wasn't feeling motivated today to run at all, so I decided to give myself a BIG motivator! I signed up to run the Army 10 Miler. It takes place in October the day before my birthday! Anyone in the DC area want to come run it with me???

Spent the early evening outside supervising the boys & some neighbor boys on the trampoline. DH took over so I could figure out dinner, but we have nothing to fix in the house (or at least I couldn't figure out what to fix! ). So we ordered pizza instead! :blush2:  Gave the boys a bath & promptly put them to bed (they were too tired for a book tonight). DH & I did pilates & now I'm here to post!

My meals/exercise today...(do ya see a trend in my meals?? I'm soooo boring!!!)

Breakfast:
Shredded Wheat & Bran cereal w/ soy milk
Water for vitamins, etc (STILL no OJ! LOL!)

Lunch, part 1:
SBD cereal bar - Cranberry Almond
Water

Lunch, part 2:
Wheat Thin multigrain crackers w/ 2 string cheeses
Apple
Water

Dinner:
3 (Yes, 3!) slices of Papa John's thin crust pepperoni pizza (Should have stopped at 2 slices...UGH!)
Water

Exercise:
2 mile run (24:07)
WP Advanced Body Slimming

FRIDAY...

Today was a great day! Mainly because Spring Break starts & I get a whole week off of work...woohoo! Gotta love the school placement...I still get a spring break! :hugs:

Anyway, Fridays are essentially half days of therapy. I'm done seeing kids at 11, but the afternoon is spent getting caught up on paperwork or diagnostics. Today it was trying to get 3 IEP meetings scheduled for the week after spring break & getting the paperwork home to the parents. I actually put the 3rd IEP into the kid's bag & was zipping it up when he walked out of the classroom to go to the bus! :P

Left work & went to Walmart to get groceries (I have OJ now!! :yahoo: Also picked up stuff for Easter baskets next week. Got the boys a chocolate easter bunny, each a movie (Narnia for Jared & Chicken Little for Ian), and a book for each (a Narnia book came with the movie for Jared & The Grouchy Ladybug for Ian). I will recycle candy from their parties into their Easter baskets...no sense in getting them more than they already have! I just threw out Halloween & Valentine candy a week or so ago!

The kids are now in bed & DH & I are starting date night...I can hear him mixing the drinks in the kitchen! :D Actually, he just brought me one...it's the yummy Pomegranate Press you can get at Outback...Mmmmm!

Here are my meals today...

Breakfast:
Shredded Wheat cereal w/ soy milk
Water for vitamins, etc

Lunch, part 1: (eaten while typing up the IEPs this afternoon)
SBD cereal bar - Cinnamon Raisin
Apple
Water

Lunch, part 2: (eaten while making a grocery list in the Walmart parking lot)
Wheat Thin Multigrain crackers w/ 2 string cheeses
Water

Dinner: (not the healthiest thing, but it was the quickest since I didn't get home until after 6pm)
Hot Italian sausage on whole wheat bun w/ mustard & relish
Baked beans
Water

Exercise:
None...yet! :)

Thanks everyone for letting me share my week with you! I hope I didn't bore you too much!!!! Now, it's time to go join DH for our date!!! :P Everyone have a GREAT weekend!!!!
