What keeps you from reading?

The general busyness of life. And total exhaustion from said life. LOL

What is your favorite genre (or favorites)?
Historical fiction is my favorite, although that's only been the last 5 years or so. I also like throwing in a fluffy chick lit book every once in a while, as well as some Christian lit or popular fiction.

Who's your favorite author (or up to five favorites)?
Liz Curtis Higgs, Francine Rivers, Diane Gabaldon, Philippa Gregory...I know there's someone I'm forgetting!

Where do you like to read (a favorite spot or two)?

In Bed, in my recliner...but I'll read anywhere!

When do you like to read (time of day)?

I will read any chance I get, but there are 2 times I ALWAYS read...every night before going to bed and Sunday afternoon before my nap.

Do you think your love of reading is rubbing off on your kiddos?

Yes, thank God! Kayleigh is as big a book geek as me. She never leaves the house without at least one book, just like her mom. And I'm always amazed (and proud) when Matt turns off the tv or puts down the video games to pick up a book.

What keeps you from reading?

Kiddos/Family activities
Work
Lack of Sleep/Being Tired

What is your favorite genre (or favorites)?

I love mysteries.
I used to read romance and will still pick one up here/there.
My women's book club gets me to expand my horizons as well as my book club with DH -- that's a good thing for me.

Who's your favorite author (or up to five favorites)?

Mary Higgins Clark/Carol Higgins Clark, Patricia Cornwell, Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich, Catherine Coultier (FBI Series)

Where do you like to read (a favorite spot or two)?

In bed, on the couch...always have a book with me. I read in the car a lot too (when not driving; of course).

When do you like to read (time of day)?

I like to read at night but also afternoons when I'm on my own or just have some free time.

Do you think your love of reading is rubbing off on your kiddos?

Cory -- absolutely not -- he says he wishes he liked to read but he had a tough time learning to read and "beats himself up" about it.
Craig -- he rarely reads anymore but more than Cory
Nick & Alex -- yes they like to read. I hope they truly become book worms. There's so much else to do that they pick up a book usually at night 'cause it's a habit. I hope they start picking up books during the day "just because" as well. DH reads a lot too but mostly in bed at night so they don't always see that. With mom they know I like flowers (gardening) and books. :grouphug:

I'll read anything and everything fiction, not really into Non-fiction though.

What keeps you from reading?

SCHOOL. I barely have any time to read when I am taking classes. I have been so busy these past few weeks that I have had barely any time to do anything! When I am in between semesters, I go on a reading frenzy.

What is your favorite genre (or favorites)?

I love historical fiction and Oprah recommended books usually. I like my books to have some meat on their bones, thick books, books that span many generations. I like books that take places in other times, countries, places. I like multigenerational stories.

I don't like those types of books that you can read quickly. Don't like mysteries, serials (not be confused with serial killers...I do like a good scary book!), don't like Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, Richard North Patterson, Maeve Binchey, Jodi Picoult, chick lit (except Jennifer Weiner), fluffy. I know...I am picky!

Who's your favorite author (or up to five favorites)?

Sue Miller, Jaqueline Mitchard, Phillipa Gregory, Anne Easter Smith, to name a few.

Where do you like to read (a favorite spot or two)?

No where specific.

When do you like to read (time of day)?

When the kids are in school, preferably!

Do you think your love of reading is rubbing off on your kiddos?

I hope so! I brings home armloads of books for the kids from work. I put their names on the lists for all the hot new books coming out, like the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. If I come across a book that I think they will like, I bring it home for them. I constantly pillage through the donated book piles and bring stuff home for them, like all of the Little House books for Francesca. I also tell them stories that I have read when I was younger, like old Ray Bradbury and Edgar Allen Poe stuff. I read books outloud to them alot. Hopefully something will rub off!
