Alex celebrated his birthday (that was Sunday) in class yesterday. And, he was able to bring home the birthday bag. In the bag was a pile of book...all about birthdays: Curious George, Francis, etc. We must have read about seven birthday books last night!
He's also received for his birthday the beginning Boxcar books: Benny and Watch, books 1, 2, 4, 5 (3 was out of stock). I hope to start those with him this week.
Nick is reading a new book for his school book club. I cannot remember that name of it. I will have to check on that and report back. He is to read chapters 1 through 4 and he's read them twice cause he likes to "get them in his head" before they meet.
Nick is also reading an American Chiller that he checked out from the school library. And, speaking of that:
We stopped by Indian River on our way back from the UP dropping their brother off at college. We stopped at Jonathan Rand's book store. He writes the Michigan Chillers, American Chillers and the Freddie books (Fearless First Grader). We were in luck cause the author was in! We had him sign our books and I got a picture of him with Nick and Alex. He also has a series for adults written under the pen name Christopher Night. I'll come back and post that pic of the author when I get a chance to download them from my camera!

Here's the school book club book that Nick is reading:
http://www.amazon.com/Heroes-A2Z-Guitar-Ro...0205&sr=8-4. He's read the first four chapters so far and has his first meeting during lunch today.
