When we were coming back from the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) after dropping my oldest off to college, we stopped in Indian River and were lucky enough to have the author there. He travels a lot but was actually there, signed our books and posed for a pic with Nick and Alex:

He is a really nice guy and writes the Michigan Chillers, American Chillers, Freddie Fearless First Grader books as well as an adult series under the pen name of Christopher Knight. Here's a link to his site:

Nick and Alex love the Freddie books and Nick is just starting to read the Michigan Chillers. My older boys have read them for years...they don't anymore but they used to. I picked up one of his adult mysteries and I'll let you know how it is when I get to it. :yahoo:

I have to update you about this. I decided to send this photo separately to Nick and Alex's teachers so they knew that the boys had met the author. And, cool things happened:

First, Nick's teacher printed out the photo and had him talk about it today in class. Very cool!

Second, Alex's teacher said she is reading chapter books to the students and asked if he'd bring one of the Fearless First Grader books in so she can read it to the class. Again, very cool!
