Author :: brenintx
Category :: Cookies
Ingredients ::
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (i used slightly less with elevation, more like 1/2 tsp - 1/8tsp)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (ditto slightly less)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
Description ::
this is a great sugar cookie recipe that one of my daycare parents gave me. They are wonderful!

In a large bowl, Whisk flour, baking powder, soda, and salt set aside
In mixer cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla and sour cream. Mix until blended.
Add flour mixture until dough forms.

divide and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours. Pre heat oven to 350. Using lots of powder sugar roll out dough to 1/4 " thickness and cut out. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper or I used silpat. Bake for 12 min or until golden.

Dough is WAY sticky so LOTS of powder sugar, the cookie will absorb sugar and not get all tough like it would if you used flour. Had to pop it back into fridge when it got too warm.

Glaze

Powder sugar, milk, lemon extract, coloring. I don't measure, just make a glaze yo!
