Nick's reading Night of the New Magicians, a Magic Tree House book (Merlin series). He's reading all the chapter books he's collected and hasn't had a chance to get to. He said he's enjoying it and is already more than half way done. I bought book logs/journals for them for a keepsake to start this summer. I'm going to have him write about this book in it to practice his writing this summer.
Alex is reading one of the Horrible Harry books with me. It may be a bit above his level; however, he's getting the words. I'm checking comprehension with him along the way. I just want him to challenge himself and as long as I read along with him, it's good. He's also reading various favorite picture books like the Click Clack Moo series this morning.
They are still averaging 30 minutes a day for their reading which is good for them and meets my standards!

Matt's still reading that baseball book. He has to read at least 30 minutes/day as well, and it's usually one of the first things he does when he gets up in the morning.
Kayleigh is reading the last Harry Potter book. She just finished up the 6th one while we were in MN this weekend. It was sweet - she was crying reading the last chapter.

I am a mean mom, LOL, its an hour a day here. Except on the weekends. But the kids like it, so they don't complain very often. Brayden is reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. He has taken to Roald Dahl as much as I did when I was a kid. Such a fantastic author! Olivia is reading yet another Junie B. I lose track of which.

Well, I make them take a 30 or 60-minute walk with me almost daily too -- so that cuts into their day!
Yes, so mean Tara....

I don't have a time limit, I guess I don't want them to think they have to, I'd rather they choose to. luckily ellen does most nights in bed and some times in the day too, prob an hour or so a day. Audrey spends maybe 20-30 min with books on her own.
now we've only been out of school since half day on thursday, and this week and next they are off all day in GS camp, so really if they squeeze in any I'm impressed! lol
our local library branch reopened on saturday after being refurbished so we enjoyed checking it out and both girls got a stack of books! ellen also reading all the books she's gotten over the last few months without time to read (birthday, a scholastic order, and a used book sale)
