The last house we were looking at ended up selling and it just wasn't a good fit. We liked it until the owners came and took down the barn/storage. That was a huge selling point for us and when it was gone the house wasn't worth it for us.
Yesterday my sister called to tell me that a house that we had gone to an estate sale at came on the market. DH and I went over an looked in the windows last night. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, living room and huge dining room/family room. The kitchen needs some TLC but is big. It's on a half acre lot with room to add on. It also had a detached garage with storage/workshop. The nice thing is that it is on a dead end street and 3rd from the end. It faces a dry creek and the houses are spread out. Oh and it's considered in the village limits but doesn't feel like it.
Right now there are a lot of loans out there for people with middle to lower incomes and not so great credit (us). I think after we come back from vacation we are going to look into this. My sister told us there are a lot of modular home/land deals out there too. We really want out of this rental and into a house of our own. DH is a plumber and has helped build houses so we could add on and not have to hire outside people. He would have to have help with the electric but my Dad is an electrician and one of the guys DH works with has done electrical work.
OK now to tell you how much it is.....only $80,000!! That's not bad for around here. I know some of you will die at this price b/c it's so low but you have to realize this is rural NM...lol! I'm really hoping we can get this or find something this summer. I'm soooo ready to move!
Thanks for listening to me ramble. Brenda
