DH starts his new job in Florida on June 19, but is trying to stretch it until the 26th.

The realtor came Tuesday and gave us the list of stuff to do before putting the house on the market: painting, decluttering, cleaning, carpets steam cleaned -- nothing major, just time consuming. We're shooting for 2 weeks max to get everything done.

The market here is slower than it was last year. Avg. days on market is 59, but about 3/4 are selling in the first 30 days, which gives me some hope. We probably could have got about 20K more last summer, which really bites, but what can you do? :blush2:

Monday I head to Florida for two job interviews for myself and to look at houses / find a short-term rental. We are debating whether or not just to rent for a year while we get settled into jobs and get to know the area, but I'm afraid we'll get priced out of the market if we do that. So, more than likely, we'll rent until our house here in Maryland sells, then buy there. I would rather not put in an offer with a contingency. We did that when we bought our current house and it was super stressful.

I'm feeling super stressed out, but excited too. Our families are not happy with us, but they will have to get over it, I guess.

WOOHOO Karen, how exciting! What part of Florida? Peter and I are actually throwing around the whole Florida relocation ourselves!

ETA to say that I think you're making teh right decision to buy now rather than later. The market in Florida is getting higher and higher!

I hope it sells fast for you and you get a good price. Good luck on your job interviews this week.
