This morning I had to go to a lab in Annapolis for a scheduled 3 hour fasting-Glucose screening (after barely failing my 1 hr test 2 weeks ago). Well, I wasn't even 30 minutes past drinking that crappy orange soda, which was totally not mixing well in my empty stomach, when I got turbo sick...ruining the test. I've never had that happen before with this test. Sigh. I was sweating profusely, completely soaked the shirt I was wearing, and seriously thought I was gonna pass out until I finally puked. I tried so hard to make it through the first hour of the test but it was impossible. What an awful experience. As I said, I barely failed the 1 hour test a few weeks ago so I'm going to ask my doctor when I see her on tuesday if it's really necessary to endure that hell again. I promise I'll watch my diet. Heck, I already DO watch my diet for the most part. I've never had GD's before so I was and still am hoping that I don't this time as well.

So on the way home, along with my 13 year daughter Miranda, I ran in to a grocery store in one of the towns I pass through between Annapolis and home just to see if they carried the magazine. It's still so strange to see myself on a magazine in the aisles at the register. If I found any, which I did, my DH wanted me to pick up a few copies to send to his relatives in Seattle. I picked up a few and got in this really long line that was supposed to be express. When it was finally our turn to pay, the cashier didn't look up as she busily scanned each magazine, only breaking the silence of the monotonous "beep, beep, beep" of the scanner to say "wow, you must really like this magazine if you're buying more than one issue".

Do you think I passed up a once-in-a-life-time moment to say "that's me on the cover"? Who am I kidding, I never had a chance. Miranda quickly pointed out that it was me on the cover. The cashier looked up from the magazine she was scanning and then looked at me and then looked back at the magazine and then lost all ability to say anything but a diatribe of "OMG's, that YOU on the cover..." It was so funny. She was totally in disbelief. Then the phone rang at her register and she answered with an "omg" instead of a "hello" and kept saying the "OMG's" over and over and over. Apparently on the other end of the phone was another cashier or manager or something who had originally called to ask for her assitance but never had the chance because she kept saying OMG. That had me cracking up, along with everyone else in our aisle and even aisles nearby. She explained to the person on the other end "OMG, the person who is checking out in my line is on the cover of one of our magazines. She's on the cover and she's standing infront of me buying some. I'm serious. I want to drag her all over the grocery store showing people that she's in our store and on a magazine". It was so funny. The poor guy on the phone completely forgot why he called. After she hung up she said "I've never had a celebrity in my line before. I feel like I should ask for your autograph or something". She didn't. I think that would've pushed me over the edge of embarrasment. When the receipt printed out and she saw my name at the bottom she took a quick moment to compare the name on the receipt to the name on the cover of the magazine, which only started her streaming "OMG's" again. It truly had everyone laughing.

When I got home my MIL called. She had just seen/bought her first copy in a store where she lives in Hampton, Virginia. She was shocked to see me on the cover in an aisle at the grocery store and went on to tell everyone around "that's my daughter in law". It was so cute.

I wonder if my exDH has seen it at his grocery store? I heard from a friend that it's displayed in every aisle at both grocery stores in his community. He'll most likely see it and puke as if he just had to take a gestational diabetes test and the glucose-loaded orange soda couldn't stay down, lol. I can see his face now! That man truly hates me. I'm sure that cover photo will become a target on a dart board in his home in the near future, lol

and I noticed they changed the homepage picture once again at the Magazine's website. This time I'm in the black dress, but it correctly says size 2:

The success story page still shows me in the sailor outfit and still says size 4:

I can't even imagine how that must feel....my dd thinks it's the coolest thing that I "know" the lady on the magazine. Every time we're at a checkout, she'll point and say, "Is that your friend, mom?" LOL

You sound like my Mom. She still hasn't found it near her. Luckily the box should be arriving tomorrow with more complimentary copies for her from LGN magazine so she can send them to more family around the country. BTW, that picture of your daughter's in the matching dresses in your siggie is precious!

Well, I wouldn't say I worked hard to be a celebrity. I worked hard to be healthier and never would've dreamed that it would transpire to last year's Hollywood trip or the magazine. Can you imagine what that woman would do if she had a REAL CELEBRITY in her check out line. I mean, she practically hyperventilated over a simple weight loss success story on the cover of a magazine, heaven-help-her if Brad Pitt goes to buy diapers for baby Shiloh there on the way home from Africa! :hugs:

Yes, it kindof freaked out my inlaws. They were really tickled. But no one at my local grocery store has said anything, the very few times I've been there (usually my 17 year old does the shopping these days since I'm on that modified bedrest). I only have a few more weeks of totally not being used to seeing myself in the aisle of the grocery store, then I'm pretty sure the next cover is one of the girls I met while in Florida, Gina. Wait until you see her before and after. Amazing!! and I'll get to point and say "OMG! I know her!" I"m hoping maybe by the end of the weekend I'll have my new online album done featuring the pictures from that Florida trip (hell, it's only taken me 6 months). Then you can see not only some of my photo shoot but also the other cover girls, including Gina, having their pictures taken...

I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time. When I came home I reenacted it for Brianne and Drew, leaving them on the floor laughing. Like I said in another post, I can't imagine how that woman would react if a real celebrity came through her store.

That is soooo funny!! (about the checkout lady, NOT about you getting sick!! :dntknw: ) I finally got my copy at Target- how cool to see you on the cover!! My Mom loved it too, she was very impressed!! You're definitely a celebrity & I've hugged you IRL.

I hope your ex-DH has seen it by now!!! What a jerk!!

Hugs,
Jess
