My son can use all of the prayers you can spare

God this is so hard to type...
My 15 year old son Drew took an overdose last night. He did it right in front of me so I was able to call 911 immediately and he was able to get help before the drug compromised his cardiovascular system or anything else. That was our one blessing. Witnessing that was the scariest moment of my life.
I went in the ambulance with him to the hospital and then stayed with him for many hours until the ER doctors stressed that I needed to get my rest, too, especially for the sake of the baby. They sent me home around 1:30am. It was so hard to walk away, knowing how much he needed me there, even if it was just to watch him sleep. They gave him the charcoal to bind the pills he took and after that he basically just slept a very deep sleep, the black of the charcoal still coating his teeth and dripping stains all over his face. Thankfully his EKG's all came back fine. I can't remember a time I cried more than last night, except maybe this morning.
This is the first time he's attempted suicide. We have him seeing several therapists and psychiatrists and in group therapies and he currently takes 2 medications (he's been diagnosed bi-polar and impulse control disorder). What more can I do??!?! I so desperately want to help him. Today was supposed to be his last day in day-treatment in the psych ward (9-3). He was put in that program for a week after he was released from his last in-treatment. He would've been able to return for the last week of school tomorrow. Just when we think he's improving he has another set back. I'm so afraid of what could happen next. I feel so lost.
Please pray that last night's overdose did no damage. Please pray that he can find emotional peace soon...I just want him to be happy.

I haven't read the rest of the responses, so pardon me if I'm repeating any info.
I have a young bipolar cousin who has gone through a very turbulent childhood/ teenage years. She attempted suicide a couple of times, but like your son, it never had too much of a threat to it. She always made sure that someone was there to 'rescue' her.
I think the teenage years are the most difficult, and the chances of the disease becoming much more controllable. There are great meds, and mental health has come a long way with dealing with it. Don't let them put him on the back burner...
I wonder if the knowledge that he was finishing up with his program scared him? He might have felt that he needed to 'up the ante' in order to get more help. Hopefully he'll continue to get help, as he desperately needs it right now.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Please take care of yourself, as you don't need an early baby on top of everything else. This is a marathon, not a sprint! You can only do so much, and you need to let the Lord help you with the rest!
Hugs, and take care.
