I was just coming to ask about your PT appointment, then saw your note in the exercise post. Did you get the shock treatment with the ultrasound machine? Fun, eh? I hope the sessions help you. I was thinking at the time and shortly after that they were a waste of time, but now that I'm feeling a little better, maybe that is what got me over the hump. Good luck and keep me posted!

Yep, I got the u/s therapy w/ the cortisone cream. I was going to post an update but figured you were the only one that would understand!! :hugs: It wasn't bad at all. I felt like an idiot though because the PT (a guy of course) is like touching all over my hips, legs, etc. I did take a pair of loose athletic shorts because I heard that was a good idea! Thank God I shaved!! :clapping: Of course, NOTHING hurts until I run, so it's so hard to explain where the pain is!! Although he could feel the tightness in my hips, which is where the IT band starts. So I had the u/s on my hip, not my knee since I only feel pain there from the tightness in my hips, make sense?? ;)

So I go back 3x a week for 3 weeks to see if there's progress. I also have a couple more stretches to add to my collection now. I showed him what I was doing & he said they were good stretches. I have to do them 3x a day plus go back to taking naproxen regularly to help the inflammation.

Anyway, I hope it works for me! He said I could do whatever exercise as long as I don't feel pain. I told him I couldn't make it much past a half mile running w/out pain for now. We'll see how that improves...

Thanks for asking about me!

Hugs,
Jess

Unfortunately, I know EXACTLY what you mean! It's so true, only those who have had this weird injury seem to understand!

One exercise my PT showed me that I really think has helped strengthen my hips is taking a stretchy band (got it from him), tie it in a knot and loop it around both feet. Then, side step walk until fatiqued. Not sure you can visualize it, I'll see if I can find some photos on the web.

Keep me posted, and hang in there. ;)

Ooh, those are called Fire Walkers!!! Cathe does them on her new Butts & Guts DVD. (you've gotta get some more Cathe to strengthen those legs!!!!) Thanks for the tip!

Yes, only us weirdos who have it really understand it! I don't know if I'm glad to join the ranks of IT band suffererers or not! :yahoo:
